SFAPOA & AADP FUNDRAISER

The SFAPOA (San Francisco Asian Peace Officers Association) alongside the AADP (Asian American Donor Program) are hosting a Mixer and bone marrow drive at Slide, 430 Mason Street, on August 5th, 2010.

On any given day, more than 6,000 victims may be searching for you. These victims--young and old alike- suffer and even perish from fatal diseases such as leukemia, lymphoma, myelodysplasia, multiple myeloma, as well as other life-threatening diseases that can be treated by a bone marrow or stem cell transplant.

AADP has teamed up SFAPOA to hold a bone marrow drive for potential donors like you and I so please come out and show your compassionate support! It's free, fast, easy, and painless. All it takes is a simple swab of your cheek (MOUTH). Your DNA is then sent to a lab to match you with a potential patient in need. If you could save a life, why wouldn't you? MEDAL OF VALOR NOMINATION

Every day, public safety officers risk their lives to protect America's citizens and communities. To honor that commitment, Congress passed The Public Safety Officer Medal of Valor Act of 2001, which created the Public Safety Officer Medal of Valor (MOV), a program which the Bureau of Justice Assistance administers. The Medal of Valor is the highest national award for valor by a public safety officer who has been nominated by the chief executive of his or her agency. The medal is awarded annually by the President to public safety officers who have exhibited exceptional courage, regardless of personal safety, in the attempt to save or protect human life.

The nomination period for the 2009–2010 Public Safety Officer Medal of Valor opened at 8:00 a.m. ET today, May 28, 2010, and will run through 8:00 p.m. ET on July 31, 2010. All applications are limited to acts of valor that occurred between June 1, 2009 and May 31, 2010. Nominations must be submitted through the online Medal of Valor Application System Here.
