NATIONAL ASIAN PEACE OFFICERS' ASSOCIATION

A Message from Norman Y. Mineta....

Greetings, friends.

Let me be the first to welcome you to the national capital area.NAPOA’s annual gathering is a valuable opportunity to learn the trends ahead in law enforcement. I hope you’ll take part in as many sessions as you can.

I’m proud to say that I’ve been a NAPOA supporter since day one. I had the pleasure of serving as the Honorary Chair at its inception in 1980.Back then, there were three affiliated member organizations from San Francisco, Los Angeles and New York.Today, that number has grown to twenty, and rising.

The theme for 2008 is especially meaningful. Partnership is what is going to lead us to a safer Nation. It’s the same partnership that is going to bring together the vast Asian Pacific American community, with its multitude of languages, cultures and histories.

We appreciate the challenges this diversity presents to us in terms of understanding and cooperation. But we also know the tremendous achievements that results when we build bridges between our communities.

I look forward to speaking with all of you on Monday morning. Until then, travel safely.

Sincerely,

Norman Y. Mineta
